Locke Lord LLP is retained to help the RWEF

Today, I signed an Agreement with Mr. Douglas Gray of Locke Lord LL “…We are pleased that Locke Lord LLP has been retained to represent Roger Williams Educational Foundation  in connection with its general corporate work… (and)we have agreed to undertake this engagement on a pro bono basis, without any fees for our services, except as may be otherwise agreed by you in writing.”  This wonderful news!! I want to thank all of you who wrote letters of recommendation to support my proposal.  Thanks to all of you who donated to our Gofundme Campaign. I have increased the goal of the Roger Williams Educational Foundation from $2,000 which we raised to $5,000, due to estimated cost of the fees for the applications.   This time, we can say that if and when we get the Exemption Certificate, your donations will be tax deductible.  Here is the Link:  gofundme.com/f/roger-williams-educatonal-fundation.   For those of you in the Roger Williams educational, scholarly, and cultural leadership, I hope you take the time to join our movement.  You can attend the Zoom meeting. join the Meetup group, or just email me suggestions.  I have worked very hard to create this new group, and I will admit tha I have been very pushy.  I also have a great deal to learn.  Please help me build something new.

Oh, if every one contributes then we grow quickly!   marcwkohler@aol.com

Bi-Monthly ZOOM Meetings

As I wrote yesterday, we will be having a Zoom meeting Thursday night.  I am happy to tell you that Alan Johnson will be in attendance.  Alan wrote The First American Founder: Roger Williams and Freedom of Conscience. This is a 600 page volume which, I hope, you will take the time to acquire and read it.  It is not an easy read, because Alan has written a complex and thorough exploration of the ideas of Roger Williams.  It is not a biography, for while it does include life events, the emphasis is on Roger’s ideas. The text itself is detailed. For instance, Alan writes about “The Combination”.  This was an Agreement by the people of Providence in 1640.  I had never heard of it.   The book closes with many detailed Appendices. They cover John Locke, Sir Edward Coke, Land Distribution, and more.  This book is a must have.   I also invited John Barry to come to the discussion, but he could not attend.  He did suggest that I might try fewer meetings.  I explained to him that this is the start of movement, a beacon, and a source for thousands to discover and appreciate the life and works of Roger Williams.   That is why we will have Bi-Weekly Zoom discussions.  I will record the discussions amd put them up on the net.  They will, of course, go viral.  We invite you to join our Meetup Group.  You do not have to be a member to attend.  If you join, then you will get more information about RW.  If you want to attend without joining, thats fine.  Just email me before 5:00 PM on Thursday.  Be part of a movement to change the world!
